Crown & Bridge
High-Quality Restorations for Strength, Function and Aesthetics
Our Crowns and Bridges Services
Precision-Crafted Solutions Using Metal Ceramic, Zirconia and e.max
At Dundee Dental Laboratory, we specialise in producing high-quality crowns and bridges that deliver strength, durability and outstanding aesthetics for your patients. Our experienced team uses a range of advanced materials and techniques to ensure each restoration fits precisely and functions reliably, while blending seamlessly with natural dentition.
Metal Ceramic Crowns and Bridges
Metal ceramics remain a popular choice in restorative dentistry due to their proven performance and versatility. Traditionally, gold alloy substructures formed the foundation for strong and durable restorations. Today, metal ceramics continue to play an essential role, particularly for cases where masking discoloured preparations is critical. Their exceptional masking properties, combined with favourable wear characteristics, make them a reliable option for long-lasting results, especially in posterior regions where strength is paramount.
All-Ceramic Crowns and Bridges
For cases where aesthetics are a priority, all-ceramic restorations are now the preferred choice among dental professionals. Manufactured using materials such as IPS e.max and zirconia, these restorations deliver highly natural results while maintaining impressive strength. All-ceramics are ideal for single tooth restorations and bridge units, providing patients with a lifelike appearance without compromising durability.
Zirconia Restorations
We offer both monolithic full contour zirconia and porcelain-layered zirconia frameworks to suit a wide range of clinical situations. Zirconia is known for its excellent biocompatibility with oral tissues, promoting optimal gingival adhesion and reducing the risk of periodontitis. Its high translucency ensures restorations look natural in the mouth, without the dark margins sometimes seen with metal ceramics. With flexural strength around 1300 MPa, zirconia is suitable for inlays, onlays, veneers, single crowns, multi-unit bridges and full-arch restorations. Its density and hardness also provide exceptional wear resistance for long-lasting performance.
IPS e.max Restorations
Our IPS e.max pressable technology delivers outstanding fit, strength and aesthetics for a range of applications. This high-strength glass ceramic offers a flexural strength of approximately 400 MPa, making it ideal for:
- Single unit upper and lower crowns and onlays
- Single unit premolar and molar inlays
- Upper anterior veneers (etching required)
IPS e.max restorations offer three levels of opacity to achieve optimal aesthetic results, with the ability to layer glass ceramic porcelain for even more lifelike finishes. These restorations are compatible with leading cements such as Ivoclar’s Multilink Automix and 3M Espe RelyX Unicem, ensuring predictable bonding and durability.
Composite Restorations
Our laboratory also produces composite inlays using high-strength micro-hybrid composite systems. These composites combine excellent durability with natural opalescence and lifelike aesthetics, making them a reliable and cost-effective option for conservative restorations. Their advanced formulation ensures long-lasting performance while maintaining an attractive finish that blends seamlessly with natural tooth structure.
